Singapore's Wave Pool

Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex opened in 2001 and immediately stood out for having something no other public pool in Singapore offers: a wave pool. Designed by architect Alex Ford of Elton-Roade, the complex won the Singapore Institute of Architects Merit Award in 2002 and a CIDB Construction Excellence Award in 2003.

For nearly two decades, the complex drew crowds from across the island, especially families chasing the wave pool and water slides. By 2019 the facilities needed a major overhaul. The complex closed in April 2019 for a full renovation.

It reopened in 2023 with upgraded facilities including a sheltered teaching pool, two new water slides (a narrow speed slide and a wider family slide), a refreshed lazy river, jacuzzi, and improved changing rooms. The wave pool - still Singapore's only public one - was retained and refurbished.

What's at Choa Chu Kang

Singapore's only public wave pool plus a 50-metre competition pool, water slides, lazy river, jacuzzi and a sheltered teaching pool. All refreshed after a 2019–2023 renovation.

50m Competition Pool

Eight-lane outdoor competition pool. Open for lap swimming daily. Early morning access on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM.

Wave Pool

The only public wave pool in Singapore. Generates waves at scheduled intervals throughout the day. A major draw for families - expect crowds on weekends and school holidays.

Water Slides & Lazy River

Two water slides added during the 2023 renovation - a narrow speed slide and a wider family slide. The lazy river loops around the leisure area. There is also a jacuzzi.

Sheltered Teaching Pool

Covered teaching pool added during the renovation. Shallower depth suitable for swimming lessons and beginners. No weather cancellations under the shelter.
