Serangoon Gardens' Pool Since 1995

Serangoon Swimming Complex opened on 1 March 1995, a year after the adjacent Serangoon Stadium (1994). Together they form the Serangoon Sport Centre precinct on Yio Chu Kang Road, serving residents in Serangoon Gardens, Hougang and Upper Serangoon.

The Serangoon Gardens area has an interesting origin. In the 1950s, a British developer named Steven Charles Macey bought 300 acres of former rubber plantation land off Yio Chu Kang Road from Singapore United Rubber Plantations. He founded the Serangoon Garden Estate Company and developed it into one of Singapore's first planned suburban neighbourhoods with detached and semi-detached houses.

The pool is a no-frills training facility with a 50-metre competition pool and a wading pool for young children. There are no water slides or wave pools. It attracts a mix of lap swimmers, swim schools, and families from the surrounding landed estates. One distinctive feature is the tetrahedral shapes dotted around the pool deck.
